With the holidays just around the corner, I thought I would start off our blog series with a few twists on three seasonal drink favorites. These are sure to spice up any gathering, and add a unique flavor to your family tradition!
*Autumn Spiced Cider*
4 quarts apple cider
1 cup orange juice
½ cup sugar
2 teaspoons orange peel
1 teaspoon whole allspice
½ teaspoon mace ¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon coriander seed
2 teaspoons whole cloves
2 tablespoons cinnamon
-Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan. Bring to boiling point and simmer 30 minutes. Strain. Delicious hot as mulled drink, or serve it iced as a cold cider punch.

*Eggnog For Holidays*
6 egg yolks
½ cup granulated sugar
1cup brandy, rye, whiskey, or bourbon
1/3 cup Jamaica rum
6 egg whites
2 cups heavy cream, whipped
about 2-1/2 cups milk
nutmeg
1/3 cup Jamaica rum

2 cups heavy cream, whipped
about 2-1/2 cups milk
nutmeg
-Beat egg yolks with hand or electric beater until thick and lemon colored. Gradually beat in sugar. Slowly stir in brandy and rum. Cover. Chill. Just before serving fold in stiffly beaten egg whites, whipped cream, and enough milk to thin as desired. Serve, sprinkled with nutmeg, cinnamon, shaved chocolate, crystallized sugar or grated orange rind.

*Holiday Cranberry Punch*
2 pints cranberry juice cocktail
1 quart apple juice
1 six-ounce can frozen lemonade
1 six-ounce can frozen grapefruit juice
1 six-ounce can frozen pineapple juice
2 bottles carbonated water
12 orange slices
2 pints cranberry juice cocktail
1 quart apple juice
1 six-ounce can frozen lemonade
1 six-ounce can frozen grapefruit juice
1 six-ounce can frozen pineapple juice
2 bottles carbonated water
12 orange slices
-Have all ingredients chilled. Pour juices over block of ice in punch bowl. Add carbonated water. Stir lightly. Add orange slices.
